Before you buy an armchair

  • Armchairs are usually wider than they look. Measure the space and the doorway before committing.
  • A seat height of 45–50cm suits most people — lower is loungier, higher is easier to get out of.
  • Leave room to walk past: about 60cm of clear floor in front of the chair.

Bedroom Chair Sizes for Small Bedrooms

A bedroom chair has to leave the wardrobe doors and the walk round the bed clear, so width and depth matter more than in a living room. The Monaco chairs are the most compact at 67cm wide and 76cm deep; the Torino is 78cm by 88cm; the Prestige, Pera and Deluxe sit around 80cm wide. The Miranda chairs are the largest at 94cm by 103cm and suit a bedroom with a bay window or a spare corner. Allow about 30cm at each side of the chair and 45cm in front, and check the seat height against a dressing table if it will double as the seat there.

Matching a Chair to a Bedroom Set

Seven of these chairs come from the same collections as our bedroom sets. The Galante, Senato, Casto and Ecrue armchairs carry the same gold or champagne accents and fabric family as the Galante, Senato, Casto and Ecrue bedroom sets; the Deluxe, Prestige and Pera armchairs match the metallic finishes of the Deluxe, Prestige and Pera sets. If your bedroom furniture is white or oak from another shop, the cream Lyon, Milano and Leora chairs and the grey Miranda and Torino are the safest matches.

A Chair at the Dressing Table

A bedroom chair with a back is more comfortable at a dressing table than a stool. The Deluxe, Pera and Prestige armchairs are the seats for the dressing tables of the same name, and the Lyon Cream armchair pairs with the Lyon dresser mirror. Delivery, Installation and Warranty

We deliver nationwide. In-stock bedroom chairs are delivered within 7 to 14 working days; made-to-order chairs take about 12 to 16 weeks, confirmed when you order. A 50% deposit secures a made-to-order chair and the balance is paid before delivery. All furniture carries a two-year warranty covering manufacturing defects. Anything under 80cm wide: the Monaco, Torino, Lugano, Deluxe, Pera and Prestige chairs all fit a corner beside a wardrobe with room to open the doors.

Can a bedroom chair double as a dressing table chair?

Yes, if the seat is low enough to slide under the table apron. The Deluxe, Pera, Prestige and Lyon Cream are designed to sit at the dressing tables from their own collections.

Can I see the bedroom chairs before I order?

The Lyon Cream, Deluxe, Lugano and Medical chairs are in our Portlaoise showroom, open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and we keep fabric swatches for the made-to-order chairs.
