Day & Night Blinds, Measured and Fitted in Ireland

A day & night blind (youโ€™ll also hear โ€œzebra blindโ€ or โ€œvision blindโ€) is two layers of fabric striped with alternating sheer and solid bands. Roll it a few centimetres and the bands line up solid-on-solid for privacy; roll it a little further and sheer meets sheer, letting the light and the view in. Roll it fully and the window is clear. Itโ€™s the most adjustable fabric blind there is, which is why it has become the favourite for living rooms, home offices and kitchens.

A roller blind is one layer of fabric โ€” up or down. A day & night blind is two striped layers that slide past each other, so you get privacy, filtered light or a clear view from the same blind. Roller is simpler and cheaper; day & night is more adjustable.

With the solid bands aligned, yes โ€” from outside the window reads as a solid blind. They arenโ€™t blackout, though: for a dark bedroom choose a blackout blind instead, or use both.
