A blackout lining behind the fabric you love beats a โ€œblackout curtainโ€ in a fabric you settled for. For full darkness, extend the pole 15โ€“20cm past the frame each side so light canโ€™t sneak around the edges โ€” or add a made to measure blackout blind behind the curtains.

Warmth for Irish winters

Thermal and interlined curtains add a real layer of insulation over the glass โ€” the difference is obvious in an older house. Heavier linings also make the curtains hang fuller and quieter.

Length, with radiators in mind
