Roman Blinds Ireland, Sewn in the Same Fabrics as Our Curtains

A roman blind is a curtain that folds instead of draws: a flat panel of fabric, lined and weighted, that lifts into neat horizontal pleats. It gives a window the softness and colour of fabric without the drop of a full curtain โ€” which is why romans suit windows above radiators, kitchen and hall windows, and rooms where a pair of curtains would swamp the space.

Ours are made by the same hands, in the same workshop, from the same 140+ fabrics as our made to measure curtains. Match a blind to your curtains for a co-ordinated room, or run romans alone in a designer fabric. Every blind is measured for its window, lined to suit the room, and fitted. Looking for roller, blackout or venetian blinds instead? See our made to measure blinds.

Getting Roman Blinds Right

Roman blind matched to made to measure curtains

Matched to your curtains

Blind and curtains cut from the same bolt of fabric โ€” a roman on the small window, curtains on the big one, and the room reads as one. The most popular way to order.

Lined roman blind in a bedroom

Lined for the room

Standard lining for living rooms and halls; thermal lining for draughty windows; blackout lining for bedrooms and nurseries. The lining is sewn in, so the blind hangs flat and folds cleanly.

Designer fabric roman blind

Designer fabrics, trimmed or plain

Velvets, linens, cottons and textured weaves, priced openly per metre. Add a contrast trim or border along the edge for a tailored, decorator finish.

Where Roman Blinds Work Best

Living & sitting rooms

Romans on the side windows, curtains on the main one โ€” or romans throughout for a cleaner, more contemporary look. See living room curtains.

Bedrooms

With blackout lining a roman blocks the light beautifully, and it looks far softer than a hard blind. Pair it with bedroom curtains for the fullest effect.

Halls, landings & small windows

Above radiators, beside doors, on landings โ€” anywhere a full curtain drop wonโ€™t fit, a roman brings the fabric without the bulk.

How Much Do Roman Blinds Cost?

Every blind is measured and quoted for its own window โ€” the price depends on the size, the fabric and the lining. Fabric prices are published openly per metre (most of the range is โ‚ฌ35โ€“โ‚ฌ45 per metre, sale fabrics from โ‚ฌ30), and a roman uses far less fabric than a pair of curtains. Your written quote is free, itemised and no-obligation, and it includes fitting.

Roman Blinds โ€” Common Questions

A roman is fabric โ€” lined, weighted, folding into soft pleats โ€” and it can match your curtains exactly. A roller blind is slimmer, simpler and cheaper, in a narrower fabric range. Romans for rooms you dress; rollers for rooms you use.

Yes โ€” thatโ€™s the point of making both in the same workshop. Order the blind and curtains together and theyโ€™re cut from the same fabric. If your curtains are from us already, tell us the fabric and weโ€™ll match it.

Very โ€” with blackout lining sewn in, a made to measure roman blocks the light well and looks far softer than a hard blind. Fit it inside the recess and add curtains in front for the darkest result.

Inside the recess for a neat, built-in look where the recess is deep enough; outside (on the wall above the window) to cover the frame, block more light and make the window look taller. We advise when we measure.
